Batting first, India posted a strong total of 298/7, thanks to a fiery 87 from Shafali Verma and a crucial 58 by all-rounder Deepti Sharma. In response, South Africa managed 246 runs, with Deepti shining again by taking five wickets and sealing India’s victory.
This triumph marks a watershed moment for Indian cricket, ending a decades-long wait since their first World Cup appearance.
