Netflix & Yash Raj Films Join Forces: A New Era of Indian Cinema Goes Global
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Netflix joins hands with Yash Raj Films to produce and stream original Indian content for global viewers. The partnership will combine YRF’s cinematic excellence with Netflix’s global reach, starting with two powerful projects — The Railway Men, based on the Bhopal gas tragedy, and Maharaj, starring Junaid Khan. This alliance signifies a new era for Indian entertainment, highlighting the rise of Bollywood on international streaming platforms.
In a landmark collaboration, Netflix has partnered with Yash Raj Films (YRF) to bring Indian storytelling to a global audience. The multi-year deal will feature original films and series produced by YRF exclusively for Netflix, marking a new chapter in India’s entertainment industry.
The partnership will kick off with two major projects — The Railway Men, a four-part series inspired by the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, and Maharaj, a historical drama introducing Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan. Through this collaboration, Netflix aims to strengthen its Indian content lineup while YRF expands its reach beyond traditional cinema.
Netflix India’s VP of Content, Monika Shergill, called YRF a “defining force in Indian cinema,” while Akshaye Widhani, CEO of YRF, said the partnership would allow “Indian stories to travel further than ever before.”
